Retired life has changed in 10 years (why that matters)

A lot can change in 10 years.

Retirement is no exception.

In fact, folks retiring today are facing a different-looking retirement than those who retired a mere decade ago.1

What’s changed?

Many things.

For one, today’s retirees are living longer.2

These days, the average life expectancy is ~79 years, and many folks live longer than that.3

Plus, more and more are thinking of retiring earlier than they had originally planned.4

Some have seen their homes or other investments surge in value recently. That’s given them a new way to retire early.4

Others are embracing the “life-is-short” mindset.4

These folks have seen friends, colleagues, or family put retirement off for too long and miss out. They want to be able to enjoy their golden years while they’re still vibrant and healthy.4

That’s inspiring them to think about what really matters and how precious their time is.

Some are even asking questions like…

How long can I keep doing this?

Is this job really working for me anymore?

What am I missing out on?

What could I be doing instead?

The answers are leading to traditional retirement for some folks. But that’s not the only option.

With creative alternatives, there can be more room to answer these questions and connect with what really matters. In fact, alternatives to traditional retirement can give us far more choices and the flexibility to retire on our own terms. They can also help us discover new ways to enjoy and enrich our golden years.
